The Church in Augusta

BRIEF HISTORY
Two to three families and one or two single brothers began meeting as the church in Augusta in Augusta, Georgia in 1992. These believers had been in the church life in other localities practicing the oneness of believers by standing on the ground that all the believers in the city comprise the church, as revealed in the New Testament. They had relocated to this area primarily for their jobs; there are strong medical, military, and engineering industries here that bring many to this area. The University of Georgia at Augusta student population also numbers about ten to thirteen thousand.
We now have fifteen to twenty meeting together plus several children. This includes about six families and several single believers. Because of our small number, we meet from house to house for our church gatherings. The church in Augusta includes believers from all walks of life, including a medical doctor and a judge, as well as Caucasian, African-American, and Chinese believers. We practice the impartial love of Christ for all members of His Body regardless of race or social status. We are currently meeting three times a week, with our primary meeting on the Lord’s Day morning at 10:30 A.M. At that meeting we enjoy the Lord’s table (1Corinthians 10:21), partaking of the bread and cup to remember the Lord’s death until He comes with hymns, praise and testimonies. We also have a time of mutual fellowship around the Word of God for the edification of all. On the Lord’s Day evening we gather to receive some specific ministry from the Word through videotape messages based upon the teachings of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. We also gather on Wednesday evening for prayer. |
